About SHWI

The name Seven Hills refers to the seven hills that surround the city of Sheffield, and aptly reflects the diversity of the women in the group and the different areas from which they travel. Since forming in 2009 Seven Hills WI, affectionately nicknamed SHWI, witnessed unprecedented interest from local women, proving so popular that it had to relocate venues.

Since the group formed, members of this popular WI have enjoyed all sorts of activities, including belly dancing, burlesque dancing, cooking and craftwork. Sub groups include supper club, book club, walking group and coffee & cake Sundays. Seven Hills WI has also been featured in local and national press and will often be spotted at local events, including the annual Sheffield Food Festival and the Sunfest beer festival held at the Rising Sun.

  • I joined SHWI when I moved to Sheffield and hardly knew anyone. I can't always make all the meetings as I have a young child, but everything I have attended (especially the annual getaway) has been brilliant fun, and the online groups are really good too. I've met so many wonderful people through SHWI, thank you!

  • I moved to Sheffield in my late 20’s. I didn’t know anyone but my partner. Joining Seven Hills WI was the best decision I ever made. Not only have I met some amazing friends but I also have the support of a fantastic community of incredible every-day women. I bloody love it!

  • I was I introduced to SHWI through a friend and have been a member for several years now. I really enjoy the monthly meetings, trying different activities, learning about different things and getting to know so many fabulous people. It’s a very sociable and friendly group.

Current & past charities SHWI have helped out

As SHWI progressed and started doing more events where they could raise money, they would choose a charity to help out each year. We hold events throughout the year, one of our most popular is Sheffield Food Fest where we have a stand at each year. See our events page for further details.

New Year New Venue

As a Gogglebox fan, I was right chuffed when committee member Anna P said we’d bagged #revkate as a speaker. Turns out I’m not alone, as it was one of the busiest meetings we’d had in yonks (the busiest ever, perhaps?)
